About this work

Peggy Napangardi Jones’s aesthetic is renowned for its bold colouration and loosely constructed figures, often simple in composition but daringly audacious. Here, the Warlpiri artist has figuratively depicted two cockatoos and a green goanna, adorned with yellow polka dots. Napangardi Jones was born north of Tennant Creek, and in 1970 moved to the town with her husband. It was in 1996 when she would begin to paint, drawing on her experiences travelling with her family in her youth to construct playful compositions that celebrate Country.
