Schools

Our School Support Programs offer Victorian schools who otherwise would not have the opportunity to visit the Gallery, free access to NGV exhibitions and learning programs, free or subsidised transport, and learning resources.

We recognise that many factors can make it challenging for schools to visit the Gallery. They can include, but are not limited to, socio-economic circumstances, distance, and limited access to art programs or resources in school. When assessing applications for the School Support Program we will take multiple factors into consideration.

Your NGV School Support Program

The Your NGV School Support Program provides free access to NGV exhibitions and learning programs for Levels 3-6 students in inner and outer metropolitan Melbourne who otherwise would not have the opportunity to visit the NGV. This program has a focus on supporting arts engagement and school-based art programs through providing meaningful opportunities for schools and their students, teachers and families to engage with the NGV over a three-year period.

Each year, for three years, the program provides participating schools with:

  • Free or subsidised transport to and from the Gallery for student visits
  • Free access to NGV professional learning sessions
  • Onsite professional learning, including some CRT coverage for participating teachers
  • Incursion with NGV Educator to deliver professional learning for teachers and/or a family art activity
  • Teaching resources
  • Art supplies
  • Opportunities for families from participating schools to attend special events

This program is supported by the Packer Family and Crown Resorts Foundations. The NGV is deeply grateful to the Foundations for their generous support of this program.
