An Interior Sanctuary
Photographer, Martyn Thompson, began his career making clothes before working as a fashion photographer in Sydney and Paris. Over a 30 year career Thompson’s scope broadened into the world of interiors and still life.
Thompson’s interior space for Rigg Design Prize 2018 is a cave-like sanctuary. “Putting a room together, like I have been for the Rigg, the light was the starting place for me… that is what gives the room an emotional quality”.
In the first major presentation of contemporary interior design in the NGV’s history, the Rigg Design Prize 2018 brings together ten leading Australian interior designers and decorators to each create a purpose-built room at NGV International from 11 October 2018 until 24 February 2019.
The Rigg Design Prize is generously supported by the Cicely and Colin Rigg Bequest, managed by Equity Trustees.
