Members Book Club is an opportunity to come together once a month to discuss classic and contemporary literature over a cup of tea and examine art through a literary lens. Each book is selected to compliment the current exhibitions on display at the NGV and the discussion is led by an NGV facilitator.

In October, join the Club and discuss The Silver Thread, by Kylie Fitzpatrick. This historical fiction novel begins in Dublin in 1840 and tells the story of a young woman who is wrongly accused of theft and sent aboard a prison ship to Australia. Her journey is made bearable by the task of weaving scraps of cloth into an elaborate quilt. Inspired by the famous real life quilt, the Rajah Quilt, this is the perfect literary companion to Making the Australian Quilt 1800-1950 now showing at NGV Australia. The Rajah Quilt is on display as part of this exhibition.
