Secondary Students | Tue 4 Jul – Wed 5 Jul

Get inspiration and learn new skills in an immersive two-day school holiday Student Masterclass. Students will join an NGV educator for an introduction to Pierre Bonnard: Designed by India Mahdavi before exploring the artist’s work, immersed in the kaleidoscopic colour and design of India Mahdavi’s exhibition scenography. In extended workshop sessions over two days, students will work with artist Libby Haines to learn new ways of seeing and techniques to create their own painting inspired by Bonnard. All materials supplied.

Learning Objectives: 

  • Analyse and interpret themes, concepts and ideas in artworks from Pierre Bonnard: Designed by India Madhavi and discuss how they are expressed
  • Discuss how Bonnard used materials, techniques and processes to realise his intentions in his artworks
  • Create, analyse and revise sketches inspired by Bonnard’s use of creative composition
  • Produce a painting guided by Libby Haines that responds to the exhibition
