Saturday Series: The many layers of Picasso

Throughout his life Pablo Picasso worked with and among a diverse array of artists, writers and scholars, during a time of enormous social change and upheaval. What does a study of his work and his techniques reveal about Picasso’s interests, his influence and the social history of the time?

In a series of Saturday lectures, experts in art, culture and history from the University of Melbourne provide insights into the world of Picasso and his contemporaries – from the representation of food in wartime paintings to the innovative techniques that Picasso and his circle of artists, writers, poets and intellectuals used to inspire art movements throughout the twentieth century.
