The New Volumes collection, created in collaboration with eight Australian designers, pushes the limits of solid marble to explore movement in an otherwise static material. Fiona Lynch and Thomas Coward present New Volumes in the context of an installation exploring the journey of marble from the “ground to the house”. A series of solid, hewn marble plinths sourced from a Greek quarry present a striking contrast to the finely articulated collection; an exploration of marble, raw and refined. Visitors are compelled to traverse the landscape of artefacts, discovering their hidden qualities while delighting in the thoughtful sculpting of this weighty and inert material.
