Lunar New Year is a holiday celebrated by communities around the world. In many Asian communities colourful lanterns are dotted around streets and storefronts to mark the end of the Lunar New Year. Suyeon Park is a Korean-Australian artist based in Melbourne. Suyeon loves to make illustrations about her childhood and her happy memories.

With Suyeon, children are invited to draw their wishes for the year ahead and make a paper lantern using a custom designed template illustrated by Suyeon. Children can add an LED tealight at home and proudly display their lantern at their doorstep on Lunar New Year.

This art-making workshop is suitable for children of all ages. Younger children may need the help of an adult.
