Describe your sound in 5 words or less?
More than five words required

If your music was an artwork what would it look like?
A tunnel with sunlight at the end painted by Turner

What’s your favourite gig you have played to date?
Too hard. Would have to be one for each project. Maybe The Birthday Party in Athens, September 1982

What inspires/influences your music the most?
The inexpressible

What song do you wish you wrote?
Who by Fire – Leonard Cohen

What part of making music excites you the most?
The bit where a new piece emerges

What can someone expect from your live show?
Oddly, in the case of the Gainsbourg show, vibrant entertainment

Tell us about the last song or album you created?
2 volumes of Serge Gainsbourg translations which were a great joy to work on. Very enjoyable.

Degas: A New Vision showcases works by Edgar Degas that reveal how the artist observed the world around him. How do you feel your music reflects life today?
I have no idea as I am not actively thinking about its relevance to the contemporary world but I’m sure it reflects it in some way.

What are you working on now?
I’m on tour with PJ Harvey in support of her new album on which I played. That will run until late 2017!
