Draw Like an Italian Master

Mon–Fri, 10 am, 11.30 am, 1 pm
Levels 3–10
NGV International

Learn from some of the masters of Italian art. In this NGV educator-led program, students will draw alongside treasured works by artists such as Correggio, Lavinia Fontana and Giambattista Tiepolo and explore innovative artistic techniques, processes and ideas used by Italian artists in the Renaissance and beyond. Students will also learn associated Italian art terms and phrases such as chiaroscuro and sfumato. This program builds students’ observation and technical skills, and enriches learning in the visual arts, history, and language.

Students will:

  • Identify and discuss the specific features and techniques of works of art from different historical contexts.
  • Define common Italian terms and phrases associated with key Italian art movements.
  • Practice drawing techniques inspired by works of Italian art in the NGV Collection.
