Throughout his extraordinary career as an artist, Picasso was energized by the many creative people around him and the innovative spirit of his time. Examine the distinct periods of Picasso’s career and become acquainted with the artists, writers and thinkers who were part of his world. This 45 minute introductory talk precedes self-guided entry to The Picasso Century and discusses the major themes and ideas of the exhibition.

Learning Objectives:
- Analyse and interpret themes, concepts and ideas in in artworks from The Picasso Century and discuss how they are expressed.
- Examine the creative dialogue between Picasso and other artists in The Picasso Century.
- Discuss how artists represented in The Picasso Century used diverse materials, techniques, technologies and processes to realise their artworks.
- Identify and connect elements of artworks in The Picasso Century to a wider historical, cultural and social context.
