Allan Campbell examines the significance of place in the life and work of Hans and Nora Heysen.

Speaker

Allan Campbell is Curator-Manager at The Cedars, the Estate of the Hans Heysen. Allan has a background in teaching having received his initial education at the Wollongong Teachers College, University of Wollongong and University of New South Wales, Sydney. He studied at the National Art School, East Sydney and then undertook a five year course in Horticulture and Landscape Design at the Ryde campus, Western Sydney. Allan moved to Adelaide in 1980 establishing a specialist retail plant nursery and landscape design consultancy in the Adelaide Hills. In 1994 he commenced his role as Curator-Manager of The Cedars, the year the Heysen Family opened it to the Nation. He has held this position for the last 25 years. Allan was recently awarded in the Australia Day Honours an OAM for services to Conservation and the Environment.
