South African designer Porky Hefer’s work Plastocene – Marine Mutants from a disposable world is a large-scale environment based upon imaginary sea creatures from a dystopian future, handmade with a community of artisans based in and around Cape Town.

Hear how Hefer’s creation explores hyper-consumerism, convenience and environmental neglect with NGV Assistant Curator Myf Doughty.
