The Romantic poets including William Wordsworth, Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and John Keats believed deeply in the power of poetry to evoke emotion, express imagination and reflect the divine. Their words captured the spirit of their age and still reverberate today. Use works in the NGV Collection, to learn more about the social, historical and cultural context of the Romantic poets to enrich the study of William Wordsworth’s poetry in VCE English.
