Until 25 April 2022

Bark Ladies: Eleven artists from Yirrkala is an exhibition that celebrates the NGV’s extraordinary collection of work by Yolngu women artists from Yirrkala, in Northeast Arnhem Land. With a wide variety of works featuring mermaids, crocodiles, starlit skies and rivers, ancestral fires, and even a scene from the floor of Parliament in Canberra, Bark Ladies showcases how each of these eleven artists depict their unique stories in bold and unexpected ways.

Join NGV Educators online or in the Gallery to explore these mesmerizing works on bark and hollow poles and discuss the stories, traditions, materials and processes that inspired the artists.
