Just 18% of biographies on Wikipedia are about women. When it comes to women artists and creators, that number is even lower.

On International Women’s Day, the Women’s Art Register and WikiD: women, Wikipedia, design, invite you to help create new Wikipedia pages about female creators.

Become part of the Wikipedia community of volunteers who collaboratively create and maintain one of the world’s largest and most popular research tools.

No experience is required though basic computer skills are recommended. Please bring your own laptop and make sure it is fully charged.

Wikimedia Australia can help you register for a Wikipedia account.

Presented in collaboration with the Women’s Art Register; WikiD: women, Wikipedia, design; Art+Feminism; and Wikimedia Australia.

Can’t get to Melbourne but want to participate?

Join one of many Wikipedia Edit-A-Thons happening nationally for International Women’s Day 2020. You can register for one of these events and join in remotely, helping to significantly increase the representation of women artists on Wikipedia.
